Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the 2026 intake, candidates must:
- Be a non-Chinese citizen in good physical and mental health.

- Have no criminal record and maintain a friendly attitude toward China.
- Generally between 16 and 35 years old (as of September 1, 2026).
- Note: Active Chinese language teachers may apply up to age 45.
- Those who have received similar scholarships within the last three years are not eligible for the short-term programs.

- Host Institutions: Numerous leading universities across China (e.g., Central South University) serve as host institutions.
- Recommending Institutions: Applications must often be channeled through a “Recommending Institution,” such as a local Confucius Institute, certain Chinese Embassies, or authorized exam centers.
