Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Deakin University RTP or DUPR scholarship matrix, you must meet the following benchmark requirements:
- At least four years of tertiary education studies (such as a four-year Bachelor’s with Honours, or a sequential Master’s degree).
- A minimum of 80% (or an equivalent top-tier grade) in the independent research component of your previous university study, or demonstrate a matching level of academic attainment via peer-reviewed publications and verified field experience.
- Meet all standard entry pathways required under Deakin’s Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) Admission, Selection, and Enrolment Procedure.
- Funding Constraints:
- Must not be receiving an alternate equivalent award or scholarship from the Australian Commonwealth designed to offset HDR tuition fees.
- Must not be receiving secondary income from another source to support basic living costs that exceeds 75% of the current Deakin RTP stipend rate.

How to Apply for Deakin University RTP Scholarship 2027
Step: 1
Browse Deakin’s faculty directories to locate an academic staff member whose research profile match with your proposal. Send them a professional email attaching your CV, transcripts, and a brief summary of your research project to request supervision.
Step: 2
The potential supervisor will review your academic background. Once they agree to oversee your project, they will formally invite you to submit an Expression of Interest (EoI) at least 4 weeks to the scholarship deadline.
Step: 3
Download the official Deakin EoI form from the portal. Carefully fill out Sections 1 through 9 with your personal data, academic background, and research framework, then send the document directly back to your supervisor.
Step: 4
Your supervisor will complete Sections 10 through 13 of the EoI form. They will then submit the completed form along with your supporting transcripts and certificates directly to the specific faculty’s internal review committee.
